64 bit Computer Issues

Windows 7, 8 and 10

MenuMizar Eight can be used on 64 bit computers running Windows 7, 8 and 10. However the installation program puts the Corel Paradox Runtime program in the Program Files (x86) folder instead of the Program Files folder. Therefore it is necessary to modify the target line in the MenuMizar Eight icon in order to launch Runtime and MenuMizar program.

Modifying the MenuMizar 8 Icon for 64 bit computers

    1. From the Windows Desktop, Right-click the MenuMizar 8 icon and choose Properties.
    2. In the Target field, modify the text to read "C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Paradox 9 Runtime\Programs\PDXRWN32.exe" –w C:\MIZAR8 C:\MIZAR8\LTCRUN8.SDL

Note: The MenuMizar Eight Program Key disk contains an Icon (MenuMizar 8 W7) with the correct 64 bit computer Windows address. It can be copied to the desktop as an alternative to modifying the MenuMizar 8 icon as previously described.

Copying the MenuMizar 8 W7 Icon from the Program Key Disk

    1. Using Windows Explorer, My Computer or the like, copy the icon named MenuMizar 8 W7 from the MenuMizar 8 Program Key disk and paste it to the computer’s Desktop.

MenuMizar 8 Help file

The MenuMizar Help file is not supported by 64 bit computers running Windows.

User Rights Issues

The MenuMizar Eight program requires that each user has Full Control of certain program files. The installation program puts all these files except one in the Mizar8 program folder on the local C Drive. The other, named Pdoxusrs.net, can also be put in the Mizar8 folder.

Directing the Pdoxusrs.net file to be stored in the Mizar8 folder

    1. Using Windows Explorer, My Computer or like, find the file named bdeadmin.exe.
    2. (32 bit computer location: C:\Program Files\Borland\Common Files\BDE.)

      (64 Bit computer location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Borland\Common Files\BDE.)

    3. Open the bdeadmin.exe file then click on the Configuration tab to show file tree.
    4. Then in turn, click Drivers, Native and PARADOX to show the configuration settings.
    5. Change the NET DIR line from C:\ to C:\MIZAR8.
    6. Move the cursor to the next line then click Object|Apply to save the change then close all windows.
